I admit that I am not much of a romance person. While I love a good love story and tear jerker, I do not spend much time reading them because I am more drawn to thrillers and suspense. My cold, dark heart has thawed since joining this book community and I have been exposed to some well written and amazing romance novels. For December's book choices for My Night's Book Clubbed, it only seems fitting to have a contemporary romance book choice. Below are two romance novels that have been sitting on my book shelf and I want to prioritize them for the holiday season. Both should be easy to snag at your local library and will be fun to discuss. Discussion will take place via Instagram on Sunday, December 29th at 8pm central.

Below are the December 2019 virtual book club choices. Vote on your choice in the comments below or on Instagram @mynightsbooked. Make sure to tag me and use hashtag #mynightsbookclubbed when you post throughout the month.

All are welcome, so invite your friends!

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Choices:

One Day in December by Josie Silver Synopsis: Two people. Ten chances. One unforgettable love story. Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic... and then her bus drives away. Certain they're fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn't find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they "reunite" at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It's Jack, the man from the bus. It would be. What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness. One Plus One by Jojo Moyes Synopsis: American audiences have fallen in love with Jojo Moyes. Ever since she debuted Stateside she has captivated readers and reviewers alike, and hit the New York Times bestseller list with the word-of-mouth sensation Me Before You. Now, with One Plus One, she’s written another contemporary opposites-attract love story. Suppose your life sucks. A lot. Your husband has done a vanishing act, your teenage stepson is being bullied, and your math whiz daughter has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you can’t afford to pay for. That’s Jess’s life in a nutshell—until an unexpected knight in shining armor offers to rescue them. Only Jess’s knight turns out to be Geeky Ed, the obnoxious tech millionaire whose vacation home she happens to clean. But Ed has big problems of his own, and driving the dysfunctional family to the Math Olympiad feels like his first unselfish act in ages . . . maybe ever.
