I debated doing personal development book choices for January, being that it is the new year and seemed fitting, but to shake things up I want to give attention to a back list book. The book community is constantly flooded with the newest, shiniest, most recent release. It becomes a rat race of who has the biggest stack of ARCs, who received the most coveted new release from a publisher, and who has the most aesthetically pleasing photo with the most likes and comments. I am taking this month to focus on why I joined in the first place, to read books and write. Simple as that. That being said, back list books do not get as much attention as they deserve, so I am choosing a book that was published in 1999 and was part of Oprah's Book Club. Remember that one? Yeah, there was a book club before Reese Witherspoon! Usually, I post two choices for everyone to vote on, but this month I made the executive decision to choose the book. Everyone is welcome, even if you read this book years ago and just want to participate in the discussion. We will chat via Instagram on Sunday, January 26 at 8pm central.
