Why did I wait so long to read a Colleen Hover, let alone Verity?! I am kicking myself for not having read this one sooner because wow, was it a page turner. Lately, I have not read books that have kept me on the edge of my seat, so this one was a welcome surprise. This is one of those novels where you will literally read it in one day because it is that good. Each chapter had me longing for the next and the story line was bizarre and creepy. I love the aspect of this being a thriller with a romance plot. For those of you who know me, I am not a romance girl, but mix romance with a thriller and I am all yours!

Verity is a famous author who is currently incapacitated due to a car accident. She is bound to her bed and under constant care from either her husband, Jeremy, or nurse. Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer who recently lost her mother and is days away from being evicted from her apartment and losing the little she has left. Lowen is offered a once in a lifetime offer, to finish the book series that Verity Crawford built her writing legacy upon and make a substantial amount of money in the process. Part of the offer involves going to Verity and Jeremy's home to go through Verity's office to find outlines and inspirations to write the series from. Lowen hesitantly takes the offer, but finds herself entranced with Jeremy and the complexity of his relationship with Verity.

While rummaging through Verity's office, Lowen finds an autobiography manuscript that Verity was writing. Her curiosity takes the best of her and she starts to read what becomes the most terrifying and bone-chilling memoir she has ever come across. Lowen questions her decision to take this job and her reality is constantly being called into question. The chapters alternate between Lowen's perspective and Verity's memoir chapters, leaving you wanting more and more. As a mother, I found parts of Verity's memoir chapters hard to read and stomach. Before Verity's tragic car accident, she loses her two twin daughters within six months of each other. What happened to them unfolds in her manuscript and will leave you slack jawed. Just when you are starting to understand what is going on, BAM, the ending hits and you will not see it coming!

Verity by Colleen Hoover is an incredible read and one that I gave a solid ★★★★.5 rating. This was my first Colleen Hoover book, but will not be my last. Verity, oh Verity, you were a solid read from start to finish.
